It can be really easy to wonder if you've been "Shadow Banned" after seeing your content fail to meet expectations on Instagram. Social media accounts often don't even have their content shown to their thousands of followers. Why, you might ask? It's because the algorithm that determines what appears on your feed has transitioned from a mostly connections-based algorithm to an interest/connections-based algorithm. This means that every piece of content you post must surpass certain performance thresholds for it to be distributed. Most of the time, the factors that prevent your content from being distributed are the content type (Reels, Single Images, Carousels), duration of the content, and engagement rate of the content. Switching up the content type is an easy first step to improving your reach. If that doesn't work, reframing your messaging is the next step. John Demer

Is too much glitter shifting you from real to reel life?I read this interesting article today on how “social" media has slowly become social "media” and to be honest. I kind of agree. I do observe a growing need to post the most perfect content, gained through the aspirations of imitating the glittery content social media is pushing our way through its algorithms. This idea has most definitely slowed down the push side of content from average everyday users and has skyrocketed the pull side making it a platform to showcase rather than express. A big win for content creators and advertisers! But looking at this purely from the creative aspect, I wonder where this evolving direction of social media is taking us. Are we falling into the trap of imitating instead of creating something new and original? Or are we using imitation as a stepping stone to nurture creativity inside us? Views + Reach + Saves + Shares = great content + social strategy, IMO!These might be less sexy (though I have no idea why) than followers or likes/comments (4547/132 is pretty awesome, mind you) but they are evidence that Mezzetta's awesome utility-based content is being consumed and enjoyed by thousands. This means consumers are:1- Hearing more about the brand2- Learning about how to use their products3- Receiving great tips that are highly relevant for the summer season4- Saving to reference for later (most likely to try and replicate)5- Sharing with others, who they feel will appreciate and do the sameThis is a successful deployment. 🤝 Well done, Sircle Media squad!#cpg #cpgindustry #socialmediastrategy #socialmediacontent LINK IN COMMENTS.

Instagram’s algorithm prioritizes:◾ Recent posts shared by people you follow◾ Content from people you don't follow based on who you've followed or engaged with recently, content topics, preferred post format, when and where something was posted, and other information about the post and poster◾ Posts getting a lot of engagements, especially if they're getting them quickly◾ Content that is relevant to current topics and trendsNotes:◾ Reels are not inherently favored over photos anymore.◾ Users are more likely to see content from people they engage with, so it’s important for brands to engage with followers.#Instagram #socialmediamarketing

When everyone is a curator, professional content creator or posts like an extension of a publisher - are we still considering that “social” or simply “media”?Headlines like this one from Business Insider come and go but I think now more than ever actually put the right finger on the pulse. Today’s social media is very much a business, not a network. To me, the future of social media is marked by one key signal:The growth of niche-focused platforms that can cater to users' specific interests and passions because authentic experiences simply can’t be served up to everyone❗📌 We search for content on Reddit – because we’re looking for actual human answers, not brand or AI-infused.📌 We use DMs and gated group chats to build connections and share personal stories – because we want to feel special and know we’re getting the inside scoop – not to be part of mass media where everyone gets served the same vanilla content in the main feed. 📌 We venture out to new social gaming platforms like Roblox – because “social” still holds value and attention spans constantly demand new interactions moving beyond the traditional 2D exchange of written words and images.#SocialMedia #ContentMarketing #GenAlpha #Technology

Longer posts and longer videos are in!Welcome to the pendulum swing. We are back to seeing longer posts being promoted by social media platforms and now, longer "short" videos. It is always wise to pay attention to what your audience prefers over trends, but when speaking generally, this is the shift that has been some time in the making.> LinkedIn says posts under 1,000 characters typically see a 25% drop in reach. They recommend 1,800 - 2,100 characters, which is roughly around 450 words. > Instagram says that captions around 150 words are more effective.> TikTok is providing incentives for creators to upload longer clips. > YouTube short-form videos are starting to see the length increase up to 15 minutes. It is always fun to experiment with content and the bottom line will always be create for your audience, but it is helpful to know what the algorithms are doing. Question Time: what type of social media content do you generally prefer to consume? Shorter or longer?

1. The algorithm is not working against you 🙊, but it may not be working in your favor either. Its goal is to enhance the user experience on IG by providing them with content that it predicts will be of interest to them. 2. The algorithm determines which Reels to display to users based on the likelihood that they will watch them from start to finish. So, if you succeed in capturing people's attention and getting them to watch your Reels in full or even replay them, you're on the right track 🫶🏻 3. Engagement plays a significant role as well, including likes, shares in stories, shares, saves, and comments. The more people interact with your Reels, the higher the chances that the algorithm will show them to a broader audience. 4. The algorithm also considers whether people visit the audio page and create their own Reel as a result of being inspired by yours 🙊 This is beneficial for you because it indicates to the algorithm that you're influencing content creation. So, it's best to turn the algorithm into your BFF 🫶🏻 Follow us for more tips on social media✨!
