Let’s face it: Some romantic matches don’t appear all that compatible at first glance. And sure, in some cases, they’re actually not a great pairing, but in others, you sometimes have to look a little deeper to find that special point of connection that keeps two people together. Then, it suddenly all makes sense.
That’s the case with Gisele Bündchen and Tom Brady. A quick glimpse into their birth charts might make you think they weren’t a strong match, like, at all. The supermodel is a Cancer, while the Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback is a Leo—two signs that don’t vibe. But, a number of other—and ultimately crucial—aspects of their charts helped form the super-strong bond between them, says Narayana Montúfar, senior astrologer at Astrology.com and author of Moon Signs: Unlock Your Inner Luminary Power.
Take their Venus-Mars connection, for example. "Since Venus and Mars are the cosmic lovers in astrology, this seems to be the key to their long and happy marriage," says Montúfar.
There’s also the matter of Tom’s Sun in Gisele’s seventh house of partnerships. This, Montúfar says, is what makes Gisele so confident in Tom’s commitment to her. No matter what, she’s not doubting his dedication to their relationship.
But wait, there’s more: "[Gisele’s] Sun is in the part of [Tom’s] chart that rules career and public visibility," Montúfar adds, meaning Gisele makes Tom feel seen. And because she’s so in tune with what makes him feel cared for, her support is a big part of his success. "When it comes to ego and sense of identity, they lift each other up," Montúfar says.
In order for Gisele and Tom to maintain the marriage and family they’ve built together, things had to fall into place just so and, luckily, that’s exactly what’s happened. Ahead, Montúfar breaks down the perfect cosmic recipe that is the power couple's 12-year marriage.
Their moon signs aren't hitting if off either, but...
"...Both signs are ruled by Mars—the planet of sex, drive, and ambition," says Montúfar. The moon rules people's emotions, and Gisele's is in Scorpio while Tom's is in Aries. They're not usually compatible signs, Montúfar points out, but in addition to being ruled by the same planet, Mars, Tom's Moon also opposes Gisele's Mars in Libra. "This points to a deep emotional and sexual connection between them," says Montúfar. "When it comes to intimacy, he is fiery and she’s intense—this double Moon connection keeps things interesting in the bedroom."
And because their Mars signs are compatible, Tom and Gisele stimulate each other mentally, too. "They approach drive and ambition in a similar fashion," Montúfar says. "Gisele and Tom share an instinctive understanding of each other’s impulses, methods, and desires, which gives room for rapport.
They're doing pretty well on the Venus front.
Venus is all about adoration and creativity. Gisele's is in Gemini and Tom's is in Cancer. "Again, not the most compatible signs," says Montúfar. "However, [Gisele's] Venus is perfectly aligned with all [of Tom's] Libra planets." This is major because Tom has a Libra rising sign, which affects his social personality. The way she loves him complements the way he expresses himself.
"But most importantly, [Gisele's] Venus in Gemini aligns with [Tom's] Jupiter in Gemini, which is one of the most positive connections in synastry," Montúfar says. "When Venus and Jupiter get together this way, they team up to bring abundance and success to a relationship." It's likely that Tom showers Gisele with gifts and public displays of affection. He prioritizes making her feel beautiful and respected, because he knows "his support is key when it comes to her growth," adds Montúfar.

Saturn is a biggie for the strength of their marriage.
Because Gisele is a Capricorn rising, Saturn rules her birth chart, Montúfar explains. So it's a pretty good thing that Tom's Sun is positioned pretty close to Saturn. This means "even if they don’t have an in-your-face way of showing it, they are pretty ambitious people who commit not only to their goals and career, but also to their family and each other," she says.
Gisele's North Node of destiny is also aligned with Tom's Sun-Saturn conjunction in Leo. All of this means the couple was destined, in a way, to be together. And they were maybe even linked to each other in a past life, says Montúfar.
