Checking-in

Always follow your airline’s guidance on how early you need to be at the airport before your flight.

As a general guide, you will need to have checked in and be ready to go through securityat least 2 hoursbefore your flight departure time.

Check-in desks

On arrival at the airport, please check the information screens to find out which check-in desks you need. After you’ve checked in, it is advisable to go to security control straight away, leaving you plenty of time to relax and explore the many shops and restaurants in the departures lounge.

The check-in desks in Terminal 2 are located on the upper level of the Terminal. Find airlines leaving from this Terminal here.

Self-service check-in

The distinctive lime green self-service check-in machines are located throughout the terminals, offering you a hassle-free way of checking in, at no extra cost. The quick and easy to use machines help to eliminate queues, allowing you to confirm your booking and print your boarding card in no time at all! If you have baggage, you can take it to a bag drop or if you only have hand baggage you can proceed straight to security control.

Online check-in

Online check-in offers you the ability to check yourself in and print your boarding passes in the comfort of your own home or at the office (a printer is required). Once you get to the airport if you have baggage you can take it to the bag drop, or if you only have hand baggage you can proceed directly to security control.

Express check-in

Get through the airport quicker with the help of our self-service Express check-in kiosks. User-friendly touch screen kiosks help to eliminate queues and hassle, enabling you to check-in and print your own boarding card in no time at all. Self check-in kiosks are located within the departures areas of Terminals 1, 2 and 3.

Five simple steps to Express check-in

  1. Identify yourself by entering your passport, credit card or e-ticket number.

  2. Follow the on-screen instructions to confirm your booking.

  3. Print and collect your boarding card.

  4. If you have bags, drop them off at one of the special bag drop desks (follow the signs to locate your nearest bag drop kiosk).

  5. Proceed directly to security.

Twilight Bag Drop

Eligible airlines: Virgin, TUI, Jet2.com and Ryanair (see below for more information on eligible flights and opening times).

For passengers looking to take advantage of our twilight bag drop service, you can now get free parking at one of our car parks to do so.

Simply take a token at the entry barrier and proceed to check-in and drop off your bags. Attend the ticket desk with your boarding pass and car park token to validate your token. Return your token at the exit barrier and the barrier will rise.

This service is available at the following car parks:

Terminal 2 West Multi Storey Car Park

Virgin: Open 16:00 - 20:00, for all flights the following day

TUI: Open 14:00 - 21:00, for flights before midday the next day

Jet2.com: Open 16:30 - 21:00, for flights before midday the next day

T3 Multi-Storey and Pick Up Car Park

easyJet: Open 18:00 - 21:00, for flights before 08:30 the next day

Lufthansa: Open Sunday to Friday 15:00 - 18:30 and Saturday 15:00 - 17:30, for flights before 07:00 the next day

Ryanair: Open 19:00 - 22:00, for flights before 08:00 the next day
